Banana Tree is an Indo-Chinese restaurant with branches in London in Soho, Angel, Bayswater, Clapham, Maida Vale and West Hampstead. Banana Tree serves Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Singaporean dishes.
Banana Tree is an informal and fun restaurant. It was first opened as a cafe in Maida Vale in 1991 by William Chow.
We visited the Soho branch on a Sunday night and it was busy, but the staff were swift and accommodating to help. The food portions are generous and very tasty, using lots of vegetables and herbs to create a clean, fresh taste.
We ordered the Beef Rendang with a combo which includes rice, rice crackers, corn cakes and the beautiful Thai salad. We also had the BBQ pork with the combo.
To drink, on this occasion we had green tea and peach, which was delicious, and a jasmine tea that comes in a tea-pot.
On other occasions I have participated in their brilliant happy hour with their tasty cocktails.
The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The portions are generous and we both struggled to eat it all of our food. My absolute favourite part of the whole meal was the Thai salad. A simple salad of shredded lettuce, carrot and beansprouts with a zingy peanut dressing.
The Banana Tree menu includes stir fries, curries and soups with plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters alike. Most dishes are priced under £10.
The atmosphere was buzzy with and the staff were very organised with the tables.
There is a daily happy hour on £6.50 cocktails . Also if you do not drink or want a night off of alcohol there is a cocktail menu for £5.50.
You are able to use Taste card without booking where you can get 2-4-1 on dishes including the combos , meaning you can eat at Banana Tree more often! You can currently get a TASTECARD for £1 for 90 days.
